The I-Test is a great tool for detecting myopia, hypermetropia, presbyopia and anisometropia. Testing takes less than two minutes but determines whether or not a full eye exam is necessary. This phoropter is great for school screenings. The I-test is also used in overseas projects by organizations such as the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). It is currently being used in countries such as Haiti and Mexico for vision screenings.
To use the I-Test vision screener, the patient simply places the I-test in front of their eyes like a pair of glasses and adjusts the distance between their eyes by moving the sides in and out. Closing the left hand shutter makes it possible to test the right eye, and the closing the right hand shutter help to test the left eye. The patient would then chose an object and would look through the lens window and turn the wheel until they see the clearest image. The patient would then repeat the process for the other eye. The I-Test also comes with test instructions and how to care for the I-Test.
