Community Care & Computerized Acuity Standards
Precision Vision® Partners with Philanthropic Clinics and Expands Digital Software Talents
Spotlight: The Good Samaritan Health Center Atlanta
Precision Vision® continues its role as a proud global manufacturer of standardized visual testing products and backlit ETDRS cabinets. We believe that professional tools achieve their highest value when backed by dedicated practitioners serving vulnerable communities. A premier example is the remarkable operational track record of the **Good Samaritan Health Center (“Good Sam”)** in Atlanta, Georgia.
Founded as a non-profit medical ministry by pediatrician Dr. Bill Warren in 1998, the clinic opened its doors in 1999 with just eight staff members and a handful of baseline volunteers. Good Sam has expanded rapidly to meet the city's deepest healthcare disparities, managing high patient volumes that exceeded 17,500 comprehensive visits annually.
Volunteer Spotlight: The center honored volunteer optometrist **Dr. Barry Schirack** for his outstanding service. For more than three years, Dr. Schirack has dedicated his day off every six to eight weeks to manage the clinic's eye care lanes. Utilizing his fluent Spanish language skills, he delivers vital monocular refractions and health screenings to a diverse immigrant population. Dr. Schirack notes that Good Sam’s multi-disciplinary framework—housing medical, dental, and psychological care under a single roof—provides a collaborative environment to help patients regain their functional autonomy.
The Good Samaritan Health Center actively seeks **volunteer Optometrists and Ophthalmologists** to expand its diagnostic capabilities. Serving these populations allows eye care professionals to practice pure medicine free from the bureaucratic friction of managed care networks or exhausting insurance documentation tracking. The center offers highly flexible scheduling tailored to accommodate full-time private practice constraints.
