Tax-exempt purchasing

Schools, universities, hospitals, government bodies and registered non-profits can buy from Precision Vision without sales tax, once we hold a valid exemption certificate for your organisation.

Exemption is attached to your account, not to an individual order. That means two things worth knowing before you buy:

• You need an account with us, and you need to be signed in when you check out.
• Tax cannot be removed from an order placed as a guest. If that happens we can refund it afterwards, but it is slower for everyone and we would rather set you up properly once.

How to get set up

1. Create an account using the email address your organisation will order from. If you already order from us, use the same address as before.
2. Send us your certificate. Email your state sales-tax exemption certificate, resale certificate or W-9 — whichever applies to your organisation — to orders@precision-vision.com with the subject line Tax exemption certificate. Please include the account email address and the states you need covered.
3. We verify and apply it. Our team checks the certificate against the state that issued it and flags your account as exempt. You will get a confirmation email.
4. Order signed in. From then on, tax comes off automatically at checkout whenever you are signed in to that account. Your cart will confirm it before you check out.

Timing

Allow one to two business days for verification. If you need to place an order before that is done, contact us first and we will help — do not check out and expect the tax back automatically.

If your certificate expires

Most state certificates carry an expiry date. We will contact you before yours lapses. If it does expire, tax will be charged again at checkout until a current certificate is on file.
