The Backbone of Precision Vision®: High-Tolerance Customization
Halving Industry Tolerances to Deliver Tailored Diagnostic Assets for Global Clinical Research
For nearly 40 years, Precision Vision® has engineered a global reputation on an unyielding baseline: manufacturing visual acuity media that doesn't simply meet accepted standardized variances, but structurally shatters them. By refining our printing parameters and darkroom optical grids, **we systematically cut generally accepted industry manufacturing tolerances in half**.
While our baseline catalog of retro-illuminated ETDRS logMAR cabinets, pediatric screening cards, and contrast matrices continues to expand, specialized customization remains the core engine of our business model. We routinely partner with independent university clinical labs, multinational pharmaceutical trial networks, and premium ophthalmic lens manufacturers to transition raw experimental variables into pristine, commercially viable, and replicable field instruments.
Initiate a Custom Research Project ConsultationThe Commercialization of the MNRead System
Many foundational instruments inside modern lanes began as complex customized projects brought to our engineering desk by vision care innovators.
The widely acclaimed **MNRead Reading Charts** were originally conceived inside the Minnesota Laboratory for Low Vision Research at the University of Minnesota, backed by federal funding through the **National Institutes of Health (NIH)**. Once the study protocols were finalized, the developers relied entirely on Precision Vision® to execute the high-precision printing required to launch the charts as a commercially uniform global asset.
Precision Vision® Specialized Customization Channels
We feature seamless corporate private labeling arrays across our entire near and distance screening configurations. This channel allows pharmaceutical sponsors or clinical research organizations (CROs) to mount tailored corporate branding, targeted advertising typography (such as pharmaceutical therapeutic specifications), or specialized event iconography directly onto the rear face or margins of standardized pocket cards and diagnostic panels.
Practitioners can completely configure acuity matrices to match highly specific trial endpoints. Our labs customize charts across five distinct structural layers: specialized optotype target designs or square-wave grating patterns, highly specific single or multi-distance testing coordinates, variable acuity notations (logMAR, Snellen, M units, decimal), customized single/multiple contrast gradations, and custom binding parameters or measurement cords.
Beyond flat media, we customize our retro-illuminated ETDRS cabinets to isolate exact photometric illumination variables required for specialized contrast or multi-center research studies. Our engineers calibrate hardware configurations to emit user-specified lux/luminance baselines and manufacture custom neutral density filters to safely control light output for specialized mesopic or photopic testing thresholds.
