Landolt C (8 Direction) Single-Sided Near Vision Card with 40 cm (16 in) Measuring Cord
The Precision Vision 2209 Landolt C Near Vision Card provides standardized logarithmic visual acuity testing at a 40 cm (16 in) testing distance. The chart uses the Landolt C (broken-ring) optotype in eight orientations—up, down, left, right, and the four 45-degree positions—allowing the patient to identify or indicate the direction of the opening rather than recognize letters.
The chart progresses in 0.1 log unit increments, from 8.0M / 20/400 / 1.3 logMAR through 0.20M / 20/10 / −0.3 logMAR. Multiple acuity notations are printed directly on the chart, including M-unit letter size, logMAR, decimal acuity, 20-foot Snellen equivalent, and 6-meter Snellen equivalent.
An attached 40 cm (16 in) measuring cord helps maintain the specified testing distance for consistent near visual acuity assessment. Precision Vision also identifies Landolt C testing as useful when alphabet recognition may be inappropriate or impractical, including multilingual testing environments or patients unfamiliar with Roman letters.
