Patti Pics symbols are useful for testing young children and non-verbal patients. The five symbols that make up the test are easily recognizable and with the use of the response key, recording contrast sensitivity is easy. Testing contrast sensitivity in children helps to identify early signs of developmental delays. The sooner delays and contrast sensitivity problems are noticed the sooner a diagnosis can be achieved and treatments started.
