Shipping Policy

Precision Vision ships from Woodstock, Illinois, USA. We handle every order with the same care we put into the equipment itself, including documentation, packaging built for sensitive optical components, and a tracking number the moment your shipment is in transit.

Order processing time

Item type Processing time
Standard catalog items in stock 1–3 business days
Calibrated equipment requiring per-order calibration 5–10 business days
Custom or made-to-order items Quoted at the time of order, typically 2–4 weeks
Backordered items Quoted at the time of order, with regular updates

Processing time is the period between order confirmation and shipment. It does not include transit time. Orders placed after 1:00 PM Central Time on a business day, or on weekends and U.S. holidays, are processed the next business day.

For clinical trial timelines or research projects with a specific go-live date, please contact support@precision-vision.com in advance so we can coordinate production and ensure delivery by your milestone.

Domestic shipping (United States)

We offer the following domestic service levels at checkout. FedEx rates are calculated live by weight, dimensions, and destination ZIP code at the time of checkout.

  • USPS Ground Advantage (2–5 business days) — $6.50 flat for small parcels where economy matters more than speed
  • FedEx Ground / Home Delivery (3–7 business days) for most domestic orders
  • FedEx 2Day for time-sensitive deliveries
  • FedEx Standard Overnight for next-business-day delivery

All shipments include tracking. Once your order ships, you'll receive a confirmation email with the carrier and tracking number. You can also log into your account to view shipment status.

For large freight orders (illuminator cabinets, palletized shipments, or multi-unit institutional orders), please contact support@precision-vision.com for a freight quote before placing the order.

Signature confirmation may be required on high-value shipments at our discretion.

International shipping

We ship to most countries where Precision Vision products are legally importable. International rates are calculated at checkout based on carrier, service level, weight, and destination.

Please note:

  • The customer is responsible for import duties, taxes, customs fees, brokerage fees, and any other charges levied by the destination country
  • Delivery time depends on customs clearance in your country, which is outside our control
  • For clinical trial and research shipments to multiple sites in multiple countries, contact our team — we can coordinate consolidated shipments or split deliveries to reduce per-site costs
  • Some Precision Vision products are subject to FDA, ITAR, or other U.S. export regulations and may require additional documentation before shipment. If your order is affected, we will contact you before processing.

Calibrated equipment

Equipment that requires calibration before shipment (illuminator cabinets, calibration light sources, certain chart sets) is calibrated to specification in our Woodstock facility before packaging. Each shipment includes:

  • A serialized Certificate of Calibration tied to the equipment's serial number
  • Operating and care instructions
  • Replacement bulb and consumable ordering reference

If your protocol requires calibration to a specific environmental condition or against a particular reference standard, please indicate this at the time of order or contact us before placing your order.

Damaged shipments

Optical equipment is sensitive. We package every shipment to industry standards, but damage in transit can still happen. If your shipment arrives damaged, please:

  1. Photograph the damaged outer packaging before opening
  2. Photograph the damaged or defective item
  3. Keep the original shipping carton and packing materials
  4. Contact support@precision-vision.com within 5 business days of delivery

We'll work with the carrier to file a damage claim and arrange replacement or refund per our Returns Policy.

Lost shipments

If tracking shows your shipment was delivered but you have not received it, please:

  1. Check with neighbors, building management, mailrooms, and any alternate delivery locations on the carrier's tracking detail
  2. Contact the carrier directly with your tracking number
  3. If the carrier confirms a loss, contact us at support@precision-vision.com within 14 days of the marked delivery date and we will help resolve

Shipping documentation for research and clinical use

If your study, institution, or regulatory submission requires specific shipping documentation (e.g., proof of calibration date, chain of custody, temperature monitoring), contact support@precision-vision.com before placing the order so we can attach the appropriate paperwork to the shipment.

Shipping address changes

Address changes can be requested up until the order ships. After shipment, address changes are subject to the carrier's policies and additional fees. Contact us as soon as possible if an address change is needed.
